In 2014-15 there were:
  • 440,000 cases of work related stress, anxiety and depression
  • 9.9 million working days lost to stress and anxiety
  • 35% of all work related ill heath cases were linked to stress
  • 43% of all working days lost to ill health were accounted for by stress
  • Public admin and defence had the highest prevalence of stress
  • Large companies had the highest levels of stress absence
  • 78% of employers rank stress as a tope work-related risk BUT
  • only 15% of them deal with it in their employee Health and Productivity programmes
  • Workload is cited as the most common cause of work-place stress
The CIPD says that 'companies that take action to reduce stress in the workplace are likely to generate enhanced value...'
